Hi! Thank you for visiting my online portfolio. I will graduate from the University of Maine at Augusta this December. I am promoting myself through this website to build my portfolio and resume. My career goal is to work in technical writing and copyediting. This website serves two purposes; the first is for professional self-promotion. The second purpose is my final assignment for my ENG313: Digital Writing course. This class has given me the tools to creatively design a newsletter, a PSA, and an infographic. It has also provided encouraging feedback on my creations, including this website and my family archive project.
In 2010 I obtained my associate's degree in Computer Information Systems from Kaplan University. While there, I discovered I am interested in creating and proofing how-to-style user guides. I like to ensure that instructional documents are written correctly and provide clear and accurate instructions.
My bachelor's degree in Applied Science with a minor in Business Administration at UMA has allowed me the flexibility to take various business, writing, and editing classes; that will ultimately help me reach my career goals. I found great satisfaction in my classes, especially with Organizational Behavior, Communication, Professional Writing, Digital Writing, and Technical Editing.
I enjoy working on DIY projects when I'm not doing schoolwork or working. I am a collector of woodworking tools and frequently try to get creative with some wood-building ideas. I enjoy being creative. I always have craft projects in my home. I also play pool with a local team in the APA league. It is fun to mingle and play pool with like-minded individuals. Other entertaining activities I participate in include shopping, beach hikes, gardening, cooking, and watching movies.
